Percona MYSQL Expert
Project: MySQL migration and cluster tuning. Contract Type: Short term (3-6 months), potential to turn into full time dev ops position

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute the migration of existing Percona MySQL 5.7 instances to Percona MySQL 8.4 with minimal downtime
- Analyze existing schema, stored procedures, queries, and configurations for compatibility with MySQL 8.4
- Refactor and optimize database components as needed for the target environment
- Set up, configure, and tune MySQL cluster for high availability
- Implement and test replication, failover, backup, and recovery strategies
- Monitor and optimize query performance, index usage, and configuration settings across the cluster
- Document all procedures, changes, and configurations thoroughly for handoff to the internal team
- Collaborate with DevOps, backend engineers, and QA to ensure a smooth migration and stable operation post-upgrade
Desired Qualifications
- Proven experience migrating large-scale MySQL databases (5.7 to 8.x), preferably in production environments
- Strong expertise in MySQL replication, clustering technologies, and HA setups
- Deep understanding of performance tuning, query optimization, and index strategies
- Familiarity with Puppet
- Experience with Linux server environments and shell scripting
- Proficient in creating migration plans, rollback strategies, and risk mitigation techniques
